Sometimes motherhood is more of an exercise in frustration...

What a little bugger.
Lesson learned.

.. And the countdown is on!

Well, it's the beginning of April and the one-month mark of living at my moms house - it's good. Chelsea loves being close to 'Mama' and the cats, gets along great with Ed and generally wreaks havoc around the house all day long. I've been busy trying to get my affairs in order for the beginning of next month - and so far so good. I've secured us a great place to live and the next big project is getting everything prepped and ready to go for my day home, as that's what I'll be doing for work.

Anyway, it's short but that's the latest with us - everything is up in the air, but hopefully within a month, everything will be much more settled and we'll be back to life as we know it. Just in a new city. :)

Hope everyone is doing well..

Spring Update!

Uh oh. I haven't updated this in almost 3 months. I am a bad blogger.

I've decided that Chelsea and I need to move back home to Edmonton. Calgary offers many great things - a couple of great friends to me, lots of daycare friends to Chelsea, beautiful city living, a great job that I love and co-workers that I get along with very well.. but, something about it no longer feels like home and on top of that, it's become glaringly obvious that it is not an economical city for a single girl and her baby to live in.

We're excited to go back home and be close to family and friends again. When I ask Chelsea if she's happy to go live with Grandma and the kitties for a little whil
e, she jumps up and down and shrieks. I think she likes the idea.

But she doesn't understand why her current home is being put into boxes and stacked in the living room. She started to cry when I was packing up the bathroom today.. taking things back out of the boxes and putting them back where she knows they belong. She's young and she will adjust but it doesn't stop me from feeling guilty.

Chelsea had her second birthday on January 5th. We went up to Grandma's house for Christmas (December 23 - Jan 2) so we had a cake with Kimberly and Emily. Chelsea got spoiled rotten on both holidays and I'm convinced that's part of the reason I have so much to pack right now. Toys and clothes and books and shoes coming out of my ears..

I'm also hoping, several things pending, that Chelsea can attain a better relationship with her dad and possibly, her half-brothers, through this move. It would be nice if she had a strong sense of immediate and extended family - mostly because our family, at least in t
erms of aunts and uncles, has never been terribly close. That said, if Chelsea never has more than a wonderful grandma and 2 good aunties and a beautiful cousin, I won't complain.

Anyway, the big move is happening this weekend and I have alot to do in terms of packing and getting ready. My last day of work is Tuesday, and hopefully I can kick into high gear and finish everything up by Thursday night. Rest on Friday and say goodbye to Calgary on Saturday.

xo.
